Choose to Shine

September 19, 2012 Kristin 27 Comments

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” -Wayne W. Dyer

If you focus on the behaviors of others, how they have hurt you, disappointed you, and done you wrong, you will miss out on the opportunity to grow and be the best person that you can be.  You will miss out on the beauty life has to offer.  All of us will feel hurt and let down at one time or another.  How will you respond? Will you allow the actions of others to interfere with you being the amazing person that you were created to be?  Or will you react in a way that allows your true character to shine?  It is your choice.

Great points. Try as we might, we can never control how others act, only how we do. Focusing on that is a much better use of energy.

I agree, Chris. We could use our energy in much more productive ways.

Knee jerk reactions are not always the best. Often if I take a minute to think about how I should react, I don’t do what I first wanted to do. I just have to remember to take that moment to think.

The world would be a better place if everyone did this. Impulsive acts often get people into trouble.

So true, Kristin!! I believe in karma as well, which is why I always choose to shine, even when I don’t particularly feel like it.

The people in my world (which, incidentally, is the same as in everyone else’s) are friendlier, more helpful, more relaxed because I believe my perspective of others attracts the same to me. There is just too much in this world to shine about, and so little time spent here to do it…guess I’d better go get busy. It really does work. 🙂

Absolutely true. I know some people with exactly this kind of persecution complex, who spend their entire life being miserable!
