Just a short life lesson

IF YOU DESIRE PEACE AND QUIET, WOULD YOU GO TO A ROCK CONCERT?

Shhh.  I said, “Shhh.”  What don’t you people understand?  I asked you to be quiet.

Sometimes we go to the wrong places, expecting our needs to be met.  Sometimes we go to people wanting something that they just cannot give.  We end up begging, pleading, wishing, and wasting our time.  We often know that they can’t give us what we need, but we insist that they change.  We insist that the musicians quiet down, without realizing that we are the ones that went to the rock concert in the first place.

Are you looking for peaches in the shoe store?

Are you looking for support from individuals who do not know how to be supportive?

Are you looking for praise from people who are often critical?

Are you committing to a person, just hoping that you will change them into what you need?

Just remember that the only person that you have the power to change is yourself.

Don’t waste your time trying to get the shoe salesperson to give you a peach.  Go to the produce stand and get your peach, or appreciate what the shoe salesperson can give- shoes.

Bravo! Well said. It is not worth expending the energy on situations that you have no control of. Take a deep breath and move on.
