All too often, we respond to feelings of sadness, anxiety or fear by engaging in activities that bring us down instead of ones that lift us up. Here are just a few of the things you can do to brighten your day, alleviate depression and start feeling better.
What do YOU do to let the sunshine into your life? I’d love to know!
Warmly– Kristin

All I have to do is think of my nephew, who broke his back about twenty years ago. To have to face those ‘minor’ problems through the vantage point of a wheel chair would make it much more difficult. I also lost my vision for 24 hours once, and I remind myself to be grateful for my vision. Then I remind myself that I can see color – reds and greens and all of the others… By then I am almost floating… I am very lucky that this is usually all that I have to do to short circuit the problem! A walk in nature always helps, as does the sunshine…
and flowers…
and being around happy people…

You bring up so many important things in your comments. It sounds like you live life wide awake and full of gratitude. You have a lot to teach others who tend to live in a fog, missing out on so much that is good. 🙂

10-item gratitude list; look at photographs of my kids and fun places I’ve been; read for pleasure; listen to fun audiobook; nap (reasonably); write.

Sounds like you have a great list here. 🙂

I get up and think of what was on my To Do list for that day and I get started. After that the day takes care of itself.

This does not surprise me about you. Productivity and goal achievement are so important to mental health. I hope the painting project is going well.

Hi Kristin, helping others is always a quick fix for feeling down. I also always have a stack of great motivational books ready to go at a moments notice!
Kristin Barton Cuthriell says
You and I both, Tina. These things help me too. 🙂

Execllent post, Kristin! I keep such a list of feelgood activities on my phone so that when I feel ‘trapped’ I can pull up something that I know will make it better…
