Here is something to remember the next time someone frustrates you on the highway, your four-year old spills his second glass of milk, or the telemarketer calls you during your evening meal.
LET IT GO!
Remember you pay a price for explosive anger and frustration. Is it really worth it?
That’s right. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Whether you allow things to get you all worked up or not is up to you. Just know that if you allow yourself to get angry over relatively small things, you will pay a price. High blood pressure, an increased risk for heart disease, damaged relationships, terminated employment, damaged children- just to name a few.
Life is way too short to live in constant turmoil. Let some things go. Don’t be so bent on revenge that you lose sight of all the good things that surround you. Picture your frustrations on a conveyor belt and let them slip right by.
Joel Osteen puts it well…
Many people are in constant turmoil. They’re always upset, always frustrated, always having some kind of major challenge that’s keeping them from being happy. They can’t sleep at night, they don’t like the people they work with. They get aggravated over the smallest things. When they have to sit in traffic or something doesn’t go their way, they get all bent out of shape and lose their cool.
It’s extremely important that we know how to live a life of peace. If we’re going to do that, we need to be flexible and willing to make some adjustments. When things happen that would normally bother us, we have to put our foot down and say, “No, I’m not going to let that take my peace. I’m going to rule over my emotions. I’m not going to allow myself to get upset and aggravated. I’m going to choose to be happy.
-Joel Osteen, Your Best Life Now
Remember, you are in charge of your peace of mind? Is there some relatively small frustration that you just need to let go of today?
