There is plenty evidence to believe that people who are harsh with themselves are more controlling, more verbally aggressive, and more detached in their relationships. On the other side of things, people who are kind and gentle with themselves experience greater empathy, offer their partner more freedom and are more resilient when it comes to conflict.
Today, try and be aware of any negative messages you send yourself. Would you say something like that to a good friend? If not, stop yourself and restructure the message in a self-compassionate way.
