My “Instant Happy” Happiness Tool

LIVE LIFE WITH PASSION AND LET YOUR SPIRIT SHINE!

Best selling author, Karen Salmansohn, tells us in her INSTANT HAPPY BOOK, “It’s about how you feel. The more passion you feel for yourself and your life, the more passion others will feel for you.”

Karen’s quote really resonated with me and inspired this post that I am sharing with you today. Passion really is contagious. When we live with passion our spirit comes alive, and we radiate positive energy. It just beams off of us and other people can’t help but notice.

We all have unique talents and some of us have been able to tap into those talents and live our lives authentically. When we live our lives with passion, other people become attracted to our enthusiasm. They are drawn to us. They feel it. They are touched by our spirit.

Too often we are afraid to pursue our true passions. Maybe we were told that they were silly when we were kids. Maybe we were told that our passions were impossible. Maybe we were pushed to pursue a passion that belonged to someone else. Maybe we were scared that if we pursued our own interests, we would let somebody else down. Maybe we thought that we would fail.

To truly be happy and at peace with ourselves, we must push past those fears. When someone tells us that we can’t do something because it is impossible or just too difficult, it is because they lack vision. We cannot allow their lack of vision to destroy our dreams. We cannot allow our fear of failure to hold us back from that which makes us come alive.

Too many well-meaning parents have figured out their child’s passion before the child is even born. The basketball dad thinks his son will be the next Michael Jordan, the artist thinks her daughter will paint like Picasso, and the musician thinks that his son is going to be the next Beethoven.

Then the artist gives birth to little Michael Jordan, and the basketball dad has a daughter who wants to paint like Picasso. Will these children have the freedom to pursue their passions or will their passions get buried by that which was predetermined?

If we are to live with passion, we must pursue that which we are passionate about. If we want to attract other people to us, they must see our passion emerge. And when it does, we will feel inspired perhaps to an elevation that we have never experienced before.

Ask yourself these two questions.

“What is it that I am really passionate about?”

“What is holding me back from pursuing that passion?

Your passion is your magic! Now go find it and let your light shine!

Kristin, thanks for this post. I completely agree that passion is contagious, that when we tap into our passion, our spirit comes alive, a kind of light shines, and others see or sense this delicious thing and they want some of it. I find that tapping into my passion requires me to slow down, to truly tune into who I am and what I want. The more energy I put into understanding and chasing my dreams, the more connections I seem to make with people.

Hi Kristin, there seems to be a real shift happening since the turn of the millenium. Following our passion seems to be everywhere. Everyone is writing about it and teaching it. Could this be a sign that priorities here in the west are changing? I hope so. But let’s not get muddled by the thought that following our passion is a walk in the park. Generally it’s more of a challenge than not following our passion – that’s why so few do it! The reward for following is to overcome the hurdles that obscure the path to our passion. Passion is the striving, the persevering, the creative thinking, the problem solving. Following our passion is the road less travelled – hands up who wants to travel that route? 🙂

It is the road less traveled. Well said, Stuart. I always appreciate your perspective and insight!

I’ve never understood how people can follow anything BUT their own passions. Ourselves are what we know best!! Plus, it puts our talents to proper use. ‘Cause you know, everyone has talent. Everyone has worth. We should celebrate our differences and quit trying to be someone we’re not. So much easier to just be yourself.
